Drty Hanz
(pseudonym of Hanz James) lives and works near Liverpool.
This
young English artist draws inspiration from American Pop culture,
films from the 1950s, comic strips mixed with influences from Manga,
Urban Art, Street Art and Graffiti Art.
These artistic trends have
been experiencing a revival in the last few decades thanks to
exhibitions and performances by international artists like Faile,
Banksy, Blek le Rat, etc. whose guerrilla street art often captures
headlines. Naturally, curators and famous galleries have noticed
their work.
This generation of artists has
justifiably gained international recognition. As a result, their
prices are commensurate with those of artists in other international
artistic trends.
Drty Hanz originally expressed
his creativity in public places (street walls) in and around his
area of residence, between Liverpool and Manchester. Later, a
striking trend appeared in his work; something that set him apart
him from other Street-Urban Artists. Out of respect, this artist
leaves public spaces alone. That means his work is now only
available on conventional materials like canvas or paper. He
expresses his diverse techniques with acrylic paint and/or spray
paint.
His subjects are flamboyant,
often with a hidden meaning. Drty Hanz doesn’t shun controversy. He
tries to reveal something; to spread a certain idea and/or
statement. Nevertheless, his compositions have an optimistic streak
coupled with striking bluntness.
This young English
artist is at the beginning of an exciting artistic career; he craves
creation and virtuosity. The gallery is delighted to be able to work
with this talented young artist and to introduce him to the public.
